Hi Andrew and Karen,

Thanks for the note! One thing I didn't mention in the article is what Hugh Johnson says about food and wine pairing: "remarkably little ink has been spilt on this byway of knowledge. . " It looks like he'll now have to change his intro!

Your book is really great - I've been referring to it daily since I got it last month.
Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve, Many thanks for pointing out a few of the shortcomings of our new food and drink pairing book (i.e. our inadvertent omission of beverage pairing recommendations for jellied eels, Spotted Dick, et al). With your expert help, we'll hope to be able to rectify them in What to Drink with What You Eat's 2nd edition! ; )

Best wishes of the season,
Karen & Andrew

Hi Gertrude, Thanks for the comments, a Cabernet Sauvignon would probably do very well. Hugh Johnson's suggestion for Kate and Sidney Pie (Steak and Kidney Pie) include red Rioja Reserva, Douro red, or mature Bordeaux.

Hi Jacqui, Thanks for the kind words and Happy Thanksgiving from the motherland!

Hilariously funny to read - Steve you are an amazing human being!
I also enjoyed the idea of actually going to the trouble of pairing wines
with such choice food...Happy Thanksgiving from Oregon.

The spotted dick looks very impressive - I bet it was right royal delicious! I would have liked a matching for kate and sidney pie (another English classic), perhaps I can suggest a Cabernet for that?
