WBW #70: SPAIN!
It’s great to hear that Wine Blogging Wednesday is back. I wasn’t a great participant but missed it (kind of like the water when the well runs dry).
In the spirit of true unoriginality, I reached in the fridge door for a Tio Pepe while watching the Arsenal – Barcelona match (Arsenal 2-1 woo hoo!). What could be more Spanish (or British)? Tio Pepe is richer than most Fino Sherries but the real reason that I like it so much is the massive whiff of linseed oil1 it gives off – a lot like being in a painting studio. Not that I’ve ever really painted (other than houses), but I love the smell. Also, I can’t think of another wine that that matches it in the historical importance/value/deliciousness/reliability department. A must!
Thanks to Lenn and the Opai for bringing back WBW!
1I hope this proves that I’m not being paid by González Byass (Tio Pepe’s producer) – they really shy away from describing their wines like solvents!

Despite your comparison of sherry to a solvent, then conveniently rubbing that same solvent in our gaping wounds as we endured the loss to Arsenal, I suppose points were eventually gained with both your participation to WBW and your accurate pluralization to Opai
